Motorola’s new flagship smartphone, the Moto X, is officially slated to be announced on August 1st, but images and details of the phone have just leaked.
The X, which is reportedly assembled in Texas, hasn’t really been the best kept secret ever. @evleaks and The Unlocker apparently both have an arsenal of information on the phone and have chosen to slowly leak every detail and various images.
Google purchased Motorola in the summer of 2012 and has a lot riding on this phone. We don’t think it’s a very big threat to the iPhone, but rather to the Samsung Galaxy. Motorola currently sits far back in smartphone sales, with sales even lower than struggling HTC. Analysts and tech-geeks alike are starting to think that the Moto X can really crash the Samsung Galaxy’s rocket-like sales.
The X appears to be something different than we’ve ever seen in the smartphone market. It’s customizable, meaning owners can decide which colors they want their phone to be. It’s also assembled in the United States.
The ability to customize the phone when purchasing the device could really disrupt the smartphone industry. It could potentially signify a transition from smartphones to true miniature PC’s since the ordering process mimics the computer purchasing process.
